In keeping with the teachings of St. Francis of Assisi, we seek to always respond with love and compassion to those who depend on us to meet their most basic needs. Established in 1954, St. Francis Chapel & City Ministry Center is located in downtown Providence, RI.

St. Francis Chapel is a place of people who seek an oasis from the world's relentless pace and stress. There are numerous daily Masses, weekly Novenas, daily Confession, and a beautiful Blessed Sacrament Chapel, a Chapel of Saints and the Shrine of St. Anthony and St. Jude. The Chapel has as the core of its mission the nourishment and peace of the soul.

Founded in 1996, the St. Francis Food Center provides food to over 750 children, women and men on a monthly basis.

St. Francis Cares Wellness Center ministers to all people who need the comfort of medical attention. We provide blood pressure testing, flu vaccines, diabetes testing and countless other preventative health care programs that often are unavailable because of little or no insurance or inaccessibility to health centers.

Pastoral Programs provide individual and group programs for support during times of life challenges such as illness, aging, loneliness and grief. Activities include groups for prayer, education and discussion of important life issues. Pastoral Life oversees senior lunches, St. Francis Knitters, outreach programs to men and women.

Our Women of St. Francis and Men of St. Francis programs provide retreats, workshops and discussion groups centered around many vital issues.

For families without means who lose a loved one through death, our Lazarus Fund provides burial money and the Chapel as a place for a dignified and beautiful funeral befitting every person.

Adult Faith Formation provides education in Sacred Scripture, Theology and Spirituality for countless people seeking to honor God more deeply.

Every Sunday, Friars and laity celebrate the Eucharist with Maximum Security inmates at the Adult Correctional Institute of Rhode Island. This happens through our Prison Ministry Program.

Presently, over 200 people serve in our Volunteer Directorate providing assistance in many areas. The generous persons are the backbone and heart of this organization.
